There’s too much to mention but 0.48 has some major improvements!
Chat tabs, custom modes, sound notification, usage-based cost visibility, token counter, and MCP servers no longer open unnecessary windows (Win), etc.

I am unable to “Apply” any code changes in Manual or custom Mode without the Edit Tool. I believe this to be a bug. Or is the cursor compelling us to use the Edit Tool for standalone charging?
It seems that it becomes available after specifying the editing area in the Ask mode.
Does anyone experiencing a bug that the cursor chat window is keep generating and generating nonstop even all of basic debugging
They keep making the UI interaction difficult for users, “Removed vertical sidebar option; horizontal sidebar is now the default and only available layout.”
Yes why force certain UI schemas to peoeple. This is a pro community.
I wont update until vertical sidebar is back.
I have vertical sidebar in 0.48
am I miss something? or you guys have an issue with your local
Same here, maybe they can share screen-shots for this. I don’t want to lose this. I’ll just stick with other IDEs or not update in the meantime.
Can you focus on fixing the bugs, the UI is fine, stop touching it. Give us some REAL updates, we don’t care about the look, we care about the OUTPUT of our requests - We send up prompts which should work with the models in question, and you add your magic to our requests in transit, and we get back garbage. Focus on fixing that, rather than tweaking the UI
Is this the strange state the agent gets into where it continues down whatever path it was doing and the “Stop” command link is hidden? Even sending new prompts requesting that it halt/stop/wait are ignored (though in a few cases it would acknowledge my request and then go back to whatever it was previously generating.)
I haven’t figure out how I trigger it intentionally but over the weekend it happened to me enough times it was noticeable. I’ll need to check which I’m running but it’s one of the 0.47.x versions.
Hey, without the Edit tool enabled, you should still be able to manually Apply changes if the AI suggests some code edits. If you want it to automatically edit your files, you will need to enable the tool.
Is this what you expected?
The release was nice and I enjoyed it until I realized that my vertical sidebar was not there. I actually look hard and finally got here and realized it was removed, so I also removed this version and went back to the old 47.9.
Can we get some kind of comment or information about this?
Hey, I’d follow this thread, as this will be where I update once I speak to the team on the reasoning / outcome of this!
Is there a reason the @codebase was removed? It looks like it does not want to @my root file directory anymore either. I see the advanced features now has a select codebase button. Does that mean this feature has been integrated automatically and it should always search entire codebase without @codebase? I see when I went to the advanced settings and created my own configuration and saved it brought these settings back.
chat tabs will make me update my 0.45 (the best cursor version so far).
vertical sidebar on/off let me access to more coding views, don’t remove it please.
thanks Cursor team!
Givr me a one_shot with every version.
Give me a on_shot example every time.
I think that would be best example of capability
(typos aside - Ill be back – if you know the forum, you know me)

Give a One Shot Version of [thing] that @cursor can do…
Be it a sudoku or any static app that performs.
Give a one_shot thing that provides confidence
right now on my laptop the same bug from Sunday
Hey!
Right now on my laptop the same bug from Sunday, over 24 hours I can’t do anything
New version is even worse that before. I keeps changing my whole codebase, if i change a simple thing in one file! What are you doing to Cursor!!! This was THE BEST tool for Ai asstsited coding, now its only purpose is to make thge dev life harder. My 2cents.
