Can‘t add new rule

why would this happen? Because some background tasks are running? I’m kinda confused

all of my rules i set before are gone too

Hey, thanks for the report. I see the screenshot with the error “Failed to add rule. Please try again later”. This looks like a connection issue, since rules sync to the cloud.

First, try this:

  1. Log out and log back in (Cursor Settings → the Log out button). This sometimes fixes missing rules.
  2. Run network diagnostics: Cursor Settings → Network → Run Diagnostics. Please share a screenshot of the results.
  3. Check the console for errors: Help → Toggle Developer Tools → Console tab. Try adding the rule again and see what red errors show up.

Also:

  • If you’re using a VPN or firewall, try disabling it temporarily.
  • If you’re on a corporate network with a proxy, it might be blocking Cursor.
  • If diagnostics show network issues, try: Settings Ctrl+, → search for “HTTP/2” → enable “Disable HTTP/2”.

What version of Cursor are you on? (Help → About Cursor → Copy)
