Cannot run cli due to malware detection

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor CLI

Describe the Bug

On apple you cannot run this without tempering with settings. Below is the error message, the only options are “Done” and “Move to bin”. “Move to bin” deletes the node executable.

“cursor cli” apple could not verify node is free of malware

Would it be possible to use the preinstalled node version?

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install cursor cli on macos
  2. Start curso interactive mode

Operating System

MacOS

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

Newest cursor cli version

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the report. This is a common macOS security issue with the Node.js bundled in the CLI. There are a few ways to fix it:

Option 1: Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Security and click “Allow Anyway” after the first blocked attempt.

Option 2: Run this Terminal command to remove the quarantine flag:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /path/to/cursor/cli/node

Let me know if the issue persists after these steps.

I forgot to mention that i installed it with homebrew. Curious i tried to install it like recommended on the site. And not it works without issues.
Not sure who is the maintainer in the homebrew repo, but would be cool if that get fixed.
