I really wasn’t expecting this from Cursor. It looks like Cloud Agents are now defaulting to Grok Fast mode, and the web interface completely blocks me from switching it off. No matter what I click, it forces the Fast model execution.
As a Premium plan user, this is incredibly frustrating. This bug is going to burn through my token limits and credit pool at lightning speed without my consent.
Has anyone found a reliable workaround or a way to force standard/slow mode on the server side? Any help from the team or community would be greatly appreciated.
Steps to Reproduce
Open cloud agents page and see the models list
Expected Behavior
I was expecting it should have normal grok model as well without fast mode.
I checked what’s happening on your account. Right now, the Default Model for Cloud Agents is saved as Grok 4.7 with Fast turned on. All Cloud Agents that ran today, mostly through Grok Bot, picked up that default and ran as Grok 4.7 High Fast. This did not affect your regular chats in the editor. There, the model is used without Fast.
In the list, each model shows its current variant. For Grok 4.7, the default variant is “High Fast”, so there isn’t a separate “Grok 4.7” entry without Fast. Fast is an option inside the model itself. Please try this:
Hover over “Grok 4.7 High Fast” without clicking it. Its options should open on the side.
Turn off “Fast” and keep Effort set to High.
Close the dropdown and reload the page.
Check that the Default Model now says “Grok 4.7 High”.
If the options don’t open, or if it switches back to “High Fast” after reload, please send a screenshot of step 3 and I’ll pass it to the team.
While we’re looking into this, when you ask Grok Bot to launch a Cloud Agent, please name the model explicitly, for example: “use Grok 4.7 High with Fast off”. After launch, it’s also worth checking inside the agent which model is actually being used.
