Can't use shortcut to select all

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

After this last update I can’t use the select all shortcut, in my case Command + A

Every time I use the shortcut it just toggles the AI panel on and off.

I tried to remove the shortcut but couldn’t.

Steps to Reproduce

Click on the chat

Type in something

Press “Command + A”

AI Panel is toggled on/off

Expected Behavior

Expected that it would select all text

Operating System

MacOS

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

Version: 2.1.32 (Universal)

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Hi @Grolubao, that’s odd - I tried selecting the text in the chat box and ⌘A selects all as expected without the agent chat window being toggled. Any chance that you have custom keybindings that might be overriding ⌘A, or extensions that are conflicting with how it’s supposed to work?

My version:

Version: 2.1.32
VSCode Version: 1.105.1
Commit: ef979b1b43d85eee2a274c25fd62d5502006e420
Date: 2025-11-25T05:00:12.749Z
Electron: 37.7.0
Chromium: 138.0.7204.251
Node.js: 22.20.0
V8: 13.8.258.32-electron.0
OS: Darwin arm64 24.6.0

I didn’t set up any custom keybindings, neither I have any extension (apart from Codex)

This literally happened after I last updated. I’ve restarted Cursor but the same behaviour is happening which is really frustrating since the only way to select all is to right click and choose Select All

Here is a video demonstrating the issue

Hey, thanks for the report.

I noticed in the video that the “Select All” function does not have its standard shortcut configured, so it may have been removed or reassigned to another function.

Please check the following:

  • Open Keyboard Shortcuts (Cmd+K Cmd+S, or via the Command Palette: “Preferences: Open Keyboard Shortcuts”)
  • Type “Select All” in the search box
  • Check if Command+A is assigned to the “Select All” function

If Cmd+A is missing from “Select All” or assigned somewhere else, you can:

  • Click on the “Select All” command and press Cmd+A to reassign it
  • Remove any conflicting keybinding first if needed

Let us know what you find in the keybindings.

Here are my settings:

As you can see, the Select All was already there with Command + A

If I add it to list.selectAll then I can’t also select all
