This could be happening due to an extension. Try disabling all of them if you have just a few, or load in disable-extensions mode if you have many. If the problem persists, try reinstalling Cursor following this guide:

I had the same issue which can be found in the stacktrace:

Cursor is looking for the file 0.7766685441620489-image.png which is missing.
I had pasted screenshots stored on my Desktop into the chat for bug analysis. Afterwards I moved them to the trash bin. Afterwards I couldn’t then use the chat anymore. It was stuck with my message.
In your situation (reinstall and still not working), I assume there is some cache folder which has to be cleaned up too… but here my knowledge stops. Potentially you have to deinstall VSCode too (including cache).

@deanrie Is this a known bug or either a feature? The idea of carefully managing screenshots that are used for the chat is not very appealing.

I had the same issue, and it was caused by images used in the chat that could not be referenced anymore because it was deleted… My solution was going through the chat history and detaching those images, and then it started working again
