`claude-4-sonnet-1m` is only 300k?

Why has it been nerfed? Was it changed on Anthropics end or in Cursor?

Is this a bug or an expected change? If it was an expected change, where can we see changelogs for small things like this?

Steps to Reproduce

  • Open new chat
  • Change model to claude-4-sonnet-1m
  • Submit prompt (anything)
  • Bug: Context usage shows: {usedTokenCount}K / **300K** context used

Expected Behavior

  • Expected: Context usage limit should be 1M

MacOS

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

…now it shows as 500K (still not 1M but better than 300K)

I am using thinking mode which I assume is why it’s 500K instead of 1M?

tested using non-thinking and still 500K

How come you’re charging us 2x over 200K context for the us to use Sonnet1M, and yet giving us access to only 3 or 500K ?

is this just visual problem or is the context actually 300k only?
