Description:
The Claude Sonnet 3.7 agent (Base + Thinking) within Cursor has consistently failed to generate any files or execute intended actions across multiple prompts and use cases. This issue is not restricted to any specific technology stack or file type; it broadly impacts functionality, entirely hindering productive use. Despite clear, precise instructions provided, the agent remains stuck in brainstorming or preliminary phases without progressing to actual task execution or file generation.
This critical issue has persisted over multiple days and multiple attempts. I have communicated via email and Twitter for urgent assistance. Unfortunately, there’s been a complete lack of meaningful response from Cursor support, which compounds frustration. This unresponsiveness and breakdown in core product functionality is severely impacting trust and productivity and is, in my view, extremely unprofessional.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Open Cursor set to Claude Sonnet 3.7 (Base + Thinking).
- Provide an explicit, actionable prompt requiring generation of files or content (e.g., HTML/CSS, JavaScript, or general tasks).
- Observe that the agent remains in initial brainstorming and fails to produce any functional output or files.
Expected Result:
Claude Sonnet 3.7 efficiently generates requested files and completes instructed actions, matching task requirements.
Actual Result:
Claude Sonnet 3.7 does not generate files or fulfill any core requested actions, rendering the agent unusable.
Severity: High – Complete blockage of core functionality, directly impacts business operations and productivity.
Additional Notes:
- I have reached out via email and Twitter; lack of meaningful support response is notably unprofessional.
- Immediate assistance, resolution, and improved communication are urgently required.
