Claude Sonnet 4.0 telling me it was actually Sonnet 3.5 (?)

Describe the Bug

I usually use Claude Sonnet 4.0 for helping me with developing stuff. I’ve noticed it changed a little bit how it used to answer my questions, and started using emojis and not giving the “right answers”. I randomly asked if it were Chat GPT 4 by any chance (GPT usually uses emojis for everything). And it told me it was Claude Sonnet 3.5, not GPT.

Is this an error of Sonnet 4.0? Shouldn’t it have told me it was Sonnet 4.0…???

“I am Claude Sonnet 3.5, not GPT…” → It is in Portuguese.

Steps to Reproduce

Pick Claude Sonnet 4.0, ask which model it is

Expected Behavior

Should have told me it was Claude Sonnet 4.0

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

It is a spin off of 3.5 and as such tells you where it comes from during its initial training phase.

Better than google claiming it’s GPT 4 from OpenAI

yes and o3 claiming it is 4o-mini, this is what you get by training llms on outputs of other llms
