This is a small but useful quality of life improvement. Currently when you close all chats when you are done with them, it hides the agent chat pane. This is like a bug for me. If I want to hide the chat page, I can use the toggle button. Instead, it should open a new chat thread for us to continue with new requests.
Hey, thanks for the feature request. What OS are you using? And which version of Cursor are you using? It seems this is fixed in version 1.5, which will be available soon.
Closing the chat leads to the sidebar closing. I don’t think this is a bug, but I’ll discuss it with the team for a possible improvement. However, the OP is talking about a completely different feature.
The issue is that when you click “Close Other Chats,” all chats, including the last one, are closed on Windows. On macOS, everything functions correctly. Anyway, thank you as well, we’ll try to consider all of this.
The bug you are describing is not what I am talking about, nor the original poster (he doesn’t even mention ‘close other chats’). I believe you are confusing this feature request with a different bug. I did test what you are talking about, and it is a bug that still exists in 1.5.4, just letting you know. Also ‘Close Chat’ via dropdown does nothing for me:
The feature request which this thread is about is different, when you are done with a chat you click the little ‘x’ on the chat tab to hide it. When you do this for all open chats it closes the chat pane, which is not the expected outcome, when all you’re doing is cleaning up old chats, not trying to close the chat pane, which has its own dedicated toggle button. I hope you can understand.
It is interesting that the “Clear all chats” dropdown does what this feature request is asking for (clear all chats but keep chat pane open and create a new chat). It is just via the dropdown instead of after closing the last chat by clicking it’s ‘x’. So I will just use that from now on.
