Cloud Based "Plan Mode"

Feature request for product/service

Cursor Web

Describe the request

I would love the abilty to use plan mode from my phone so that when I am away from my computer I can work on something new for my app - design it back and forth with cursor and then when it’s in a good place…submit it to cursor to start working on! Is this currently possible? If not, it would be amazing. Far too often I am away from my computer and I have ideas and would love to have some progress made on them.

While waiting, try Chrome Remote Desktop or similar. Haven’t tried it yet myself. But should work.

I’ve used that before. I’m looking for more than just a remote desktop. I want to be able to access any of my repositories and work on ideas while i’m on the move - saving them to a plan.

Would this suffice?

Hmmm. I have seen this recently but didn’t seem to be what I was thinking - it was close but now I see my repositories to select and the branches.

This looks promising! Thank you.

Would love an iOS app please

For me it doesn’t work, because I don’t use github. Here’s the docs: Web & Mobile | Cursor Docs

I would also like to use Plan Mode on my mobile device
Is there any progress on this?

It seems like for many developers today, the preferred loop for development is as follows:

  1. Pick up a task
  2. Iterate on a plan for it, using some kind of “plan mode”
  3. Have an agent build and iterate in the background isolated from other agents, ideally for a long time and in the cloud
  4. Notice when one of the multiple agents needs your approval or has stopped
  5. Assess the work (some combo of reading the agent’s notes, reading the diff, testing locally, etc)
  6. Ask for revisions, potentially using another Plan Mode pass
  7. When things look good, submit a PR

It seems like the lack of Plan Mode for Cloud Agents is the main barrier to doing this with Cursor currently.

Amusingly, the Cloud Agent UI will offer “Try Plan Mode” when you’re writing a plan, but the button does nothing. Hopefully this implies it’s in the works.

Note: this now works in the new Cursor 3 Agents Window.
