Composer stuck on 'Generating...' indefinitely

I’m a Cursor Pro user and I’m experiencing a recurring issue where the Composer gets stuck on “Generating…” indefinitely. This happens even with short and simple prompts. The only way to get it working again is by restarting the app—but the issue keeps coming back. This is highly unusual behavior for a paid tool and breaks the development flow completely.

  • I’ve already updated to the latest version.
  • Switching models doesn’t help.
  • Clearing Composer history and starting a new session also doesn’t solve it.
  • No large files are in context, and prompt size is minimal.
  • The issue happens across different projects and sessions, and no errors are shown.
  • Cursor Version: 0.49.6
  • OS: Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS (64-bit, GNOME 42.9, Wayland)

Same issue, but on Windwos 10.

Any idea how to debug it?

EDIT: Fixed it by moving to another network. The issue was caused by the Fortigate deep packet inspection (they replace the SSL certificate on every outgoing connection).

@Cursor: here I would expect a network connectivity error or at least something meaningful.

I was able to fix it by forcing it to run on X11 instead of Wayland. Not sure how this would apply to Windows, though.
