Confused by Chat UI ("Ask followup ⌘Y"?)

After a first response from the model, the input field shows a placeholder that says Ask followup ⌘Y, ↑ to select.

What does it mean? What does it do? I couldn’t find any reference to ⌘Y in the docs (or anywhere else), and simply typing a followup and pressing ENTER seems to do the job.

Hi @mjsarfatti

Cmd + Y is a shortcut for continuing the conversation in the same chat. It’s similar to Cmd + L, but instead of starting a new chat, it keeps the conversation going in the same one.

Oh ok, basically it brings focus back to the chat, in the ongoing conversation.

I was confused because I was already in the conversation and it appeared to do nothing…

cmd+L=Clear chat + [ cmd+Y ]

cmd+Y=focus to input box;

Ask followup ⌘Y, to select

When pressing up arrow key , the previous chat box items are highlighted. Is there any significance or benefit to highlighting one for a follow-up (e.g. ask with same code / files context), or is this just a way to navigate through previous chat items with the arrow keys?

This is to avoid using the mouse. You can go back to the previous message and edit it, thereby restarting the process.
