Describe the Bug

I am experiencing a “Connection failed” error in Cursor, even though I am on a Pro Trial account. I have tried restarting my computer, using different networks (including mobile), reinstalling Cursor, and running it as administrator, but the issue persists.

I was using Cursor to get help for building a website, but the process suddenly stopped and I started getting this error. I created my account today and have been working with code for a few hours. I am not connected to any VPN or proxy. I have also tried running Cursor as administrator and I am using the latest version.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

I closed http2 and run diagnostic it shows everything is right but still not working

Hey, does creating a new chat resolve the issue?

Yes but i dont want to lose my chat memory in here because if i create New chat i need to teach cursor to be like old chat

You can refer to the past chat, and the new chat will know everything about the old chat.

I tried it right now but it didnt give me like old one scripts :downcast_face_with_sweat: so ai didnt remember

You can add the files to the context again. Also, is the new chat working for you?

Yes new chat is working but i told ai with words its very hard to told again

Cant we fix the old chat?

Unfortunately, no. Are you using only one chat all the time? If so, you might want to learn how LLMs work, because when the context overflows, the model may start hallucinating, giving poor answers, deleting files, and harming your work. So, I recommend creating a new chat for each new task.

Thing is, it’s starting to happen way more often than not, even when the chat is still new (3-5 messages max). I have to retry like 10x for it to work again, it wasn’t like this before.

Thanks for the info. Does this also happen in auto mode?

On auto it’s much more stable, but I did have the same issue on auto before and had to retry multiple times for it to work again. It looks like a bug with the chat function itself, rather than the models because when it starts working again whether on auto, or on a different model, I can switch back to the original model that I was using, and it would work again.

Could you also let me know which version of Cursor you’re using?

this always happens here too. I just press enter again and it works.
