Since Cursor 2.0, the context window immediately becomes full — no matter how large it is — as soon as the Cursor Agent (any model) takes a screenshot using the new browsing tool.
Steps to Reproduce
Take any project → trigger the Cursor Agent → let it run a browsing-tool screenshot → immediately observe that the context window jumps to 100% usage, regardless of configured context size.
Operating System
MacOS
Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)
Hey, thanks for the report. It looks like this might be a bug in how the browsing tool screenshots are being counted toward context usage.
Could you please share:
A Request ID from the moment this happens (chat context menu > Copy Request ID)
A screenshot showing the context window jumping to 100% right after the browsing tool screenshot is added
Which exact model you’re using when this happens?
Whether you have any MCP servers enabled at the moment?
This will help the team understand where the unexpected token usage is coming from. The browser tool is supposed to be optimized to minimize token consumption, so something definitely seems off here.
@deanrie I’ve also been encountering this issue. Please find below a short prompt where I’m consistently able to replicate this issue. It also seems that the navigate tool is also taking up ~40k tokens in the context.
Request ID: e1ddad73-7196-44a2-bd3d-2639aaef29c7
Model: Gemini 3 Pro, but this issue has occurred for Composer 1 and GPT-5 in my testing
MCP Servers: I’ve disabled all MCP servers for this test
