Describe the Bug

I don’t want to spend more than $50–60 per month on On-Demand Usage with the PRO plan. I have tried Azure OpenAI and Amazon Bedrock, but none of the BYOK (API Key) services are operational likely for months, and these issues have not been fixed.

Either discontinue BYOK or fix it. Kindly don’t play with the customers.

Hi @oguzhangokboru20 . I’m the maintainer of this open source project which would allow you to use GPT-5 on azure: GitHub - gabrii/Cursor-Azure-GPT-5: A service that allows Cursor to use Azure GPT-5 deployments.

It’s not perfect, but it offers a workaround for the time being until model support is further improved by cursor.

Also at least for OpenAI/Azure models: BYOK works well with models that support the old Completions API, so I wouldn’t suggest discontinuing it (as it also allows adapters like my project to work). They are only lagging on supporting the Responses API .

Any updates on this? Our whole team has this issue as well. We’re using Azure API keys for models that exist as Azure resources, they were working as of Wednesday or so and then started getting the error that the model is does not work with current plan or API key.

I’ve been writing about this problem for months, but they haven’t taken a single step. I’m almost sure they don’t let people use these api keys to get their money anymore. Because then they will not be able to make money themselves. I’m really tired now.

Now You can use BYOK only if you are in the pro plan… So they are making money either way… It’s okay, but at least they should provide solid BYOK service… Cursor Team should know, If i am using Pro/Plus Plan, I won’t be upgrading for further usage if BYOK don’t function when i need to use it. And i have (legal) the right to use BYOK as per features in the plan…

What they are doing with the customers is terrible!
