Cursor 3 Window

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I REALLY dislike that when you select ask or plan, it flips back to auto immediately. I want it to STAY in the area I picked and NOT jump the gun on development. Cursor just wrote the wrong code in the wrong branch without creating a ticket, because I have to remember to ask it to switch again.

This is non-starter for me right now. Switching back to old environment.

Steps to Reproduce

pick ‘ask’. do something. watch it flip back to auto no matter what you want it to do.

Expected Behavior

I guess it’s behaving as expected. I hate it.

Operating System

MacOS

For AI issues: which model did you use?

Composer 2 I think

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

reading other forum entries, I see similar complaints. Cursor 3 is definitely not ready for prime time.

Hi @Michael_Prenez-Isbel Thank you for the post. Do you mind giving me an example of behavior that you mean by do something ? Is it creating a new agent? Because I notice that it does default to Agent when you create a new Agent, but I was unable to reproduce the exact behavior you’re describing with regard to plan mode switching out. Mine stayed in plan mode as expected with Composer 2.

I have to apologize. I hadn’t figured out where the modes were (hit that plus sign!) It works fine. Using 3 now, no problems. I WOULD like a vertical split on the right window, so. I can see plan document on top and terminal on bottom.

I have not found that just letting agents rip is the best way to do mobile app development with XCode. It’s still requires plenty of human intervention. To that end, I have a set of prompts i use to drive a trello board of tickets and feature branches. And I always do 1 plan 2 summarize plan and create ticket 3 build, with a VERY detailed prompt moving it through testing and trello workflow. But it needs a watchful eye, especially on the highly technical app I’m building.

Quick follow that we introduced a tiled view today in Agents View! Check out more info here:
You can vertical or horizontal split windows on the left as part of this release!
