Cursor Agent keeps skipping questions in plan mode

Describe the Bug

When in planning mode the agent keeps asking questions and silently skipping them. I have to tell it to ask again before they are rendered.

Steps to Reproduce

Enter planning mode and tell the agent to ask you questions about the task it is planning

Agent asks questions

Hi @Jeremy_Taylor Thanks for the report. We’re investigating this issue as a known class of bugs, and we appreciate you providing the details. I have a couple more follow-up questions if you don’t mind…

  • Do you experience across all models (i.e. can you try with a different model and see if it re-occurs)?
  • Can you re-produce this consistently or is it only occasionally an issue?

It’s a constant problem with Plan mode. I have run out of credits so can only use the Auto mode until next month.

I’m also experiencing this in Agent mode. Just had multiple instances in a session with Claude Opus 4.8 High where the agent continued automatically after a few minutes of me not answering the question.

That’s a major inconvenience, because I might be managing multiple sessions at the same time, doing additional other tasks, etc. and I never want the agent to continue with their recommendation without me confirming it.

Hey @Jeremy_Taylor,

We’ve shipped a number of fixes to how plan-mode questions render since you reported this. Could you give it another try on the latest version? Quick check:

  1. Enter plan mode
  2. Ask the agent to ask you questions about the task it’s planning
  3. Check whether the questions now show up without you having to ask again

Let me know if the agent still skips the questions!
