Cursor AppImage Slow to Start, Crashes with Chat Feature

Description:
The Cursor AppImage takes a long time to launch. It works fine initially, but crashes after a few minutes, particularly when using the chat feature.

Steps to Reproduce:

Launch Cursor deb version for debian based system.
Make the AppImage workable.
Expected Behavior:
App should launch quickly and work without crashing during usage.
Actual Behavior:

Slow startup.
Works for a few minutes, then crashes when using chat.

$ ldd --version

my output starts with

ldd (Debian GLIBC 2.36-xxxxx) 2.36 ...

I’ve used the app image on a RHEL type linux install with GLIBC 2.29 and it runs but behaves in weird ways (effectively crash)

the only “clean way” to have a new GLIBC is to have an entirely new linux system, suggest : Ubuntu 24.04.1 (Noble Numbat)

Alternative cause: do you have free ram?:

top -b -n1 | head -n 10

look for the number in megabytes to the left of “avail Mem”

Mine takes a few seconds to start and crashes frequently, too.
