Cursor - Auto Mode Too Slow

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

In Agent or Ask mode, on Auto, Cursor 3.0.13 has been incredibly slow since 5 pm (UTC) last night. It seems there’s a problem with Composer 2.
When I switch to other models from Auto, the process completes quickly.

Steps to Reproduce

It doesn’t actually create a bug. It runs incredibly slow in Auto mode.

Operating System

Windows 10/11

For AI issues: which model did you use?

Auto-Composer 2

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, this is a known issue. Auto mode goes through extra server-side routing steps that don’t happen when you pick a model manually. Right now the router sometimes sends the request to a higher-latency provider, so Auto can feel noticeably slower.

The team is aware. For now, the workaround is what you already found, pick a model manually instead of Auto.

If you want to help us debug your specific case, send a Request ID from one of the slow Auto requests (top right in the chat > Copy Request ID).
