I have edited three of my source files inside my cursor workspace, using vi, but not while Cursor was running, and thus have caused the cursor cache to be out of sync. Now when I use Cursor to get at these 3 files the error is “file not found” & “Cannot create file” -
I do not want to lose any cursor or vscode configuration settings. Especially things like rules, docs, or any other configuration. Everything is working really well except I lost access to 3 files. These were OSX operating system configuration files I was using cursor to reconfigure, indirectly these files are crucial to my project. Thus the file names were very meaningful.
I asked Claude from within Cursor to help me re-sync the files in Cursor and I got an extensive response. It’s just a file sync problem I want to solve. Nothing else. I don’t trust Claude to get this right.
Looking for confirmation, or better yet a simpler solution. Like maybe I should just re-create the 3 files with different names ? That might be a better idea. I was having to manually copy and paste then code into the destination anyway.
I do not want to lose chat history, composer history, or anything.
