Having a major issue with 0.45.7 on Mac. It updated yesterday and since then, I’ve found that any files composer is working on in the current context, it just deletes and says it can’t find them. I had a backup of every file so I could restore, but is anyone else experiencing this?
I reverted back to 0.43.6 for Mac from the previous versions section, and it works as usual. Cursor - The AI Code Editor
Hey, does starting a new session not solve your problem?
I tried restarting the app and creating a new compose without the old context, and added I new files to the context. I also reinstalled cursor at the latest version and still had the issue.
I’m also experiencing this. Explicit yolo command to not use rm -rf, and checkbox for no deletion of files. But still it happily deletes whole directories.
confirming. It can also move files and if you checkout to the previous version you lose all files.
got the exact same issue three time these few days. Thought was my problem before seeing this post. I read the changes it suggested and everything seems fine, clicked on accpet. Then it just suddenly emptied some files under the directory and even disconnected to my git. Need to spend a lot of time to fix every time, espcially when some updates are not yet pushed or commit.
Any Cursor mods able to comment on this issue? I decided to update to latest again on Mac silicon to see if the issue with cursor deleting files has been resolved in 0.45.11, but it is still happening. This all started for me on 0.45.7 on Mac. I tested this on a Windows 11 PC and it works fine in all versions. The worst part is reverting back to an older version caused me to lose my chat history/checkpoints. I can still manually revert files in the Timeline, but all of this combined is preventing me from using newer versions of cursor. For now, I’ll be reverting back again.
Alternatively, if no mod has any updates, is there anything I can try on my Mac to resolve this? Is there a cache or something that is causing composer to be corrupted? Or has anyone following this discussion gotten theirs to work?
Hmm different solutions worked for different people. Some uninstalled Cursor then installed it fresh from website. Others deleted the cache (posted in forum here). Then some had issues with 3rd party extensions. Others have installed fake Cursor app from some other website. And so on.
Personally i have never had this issue and i am using the same os, device type and same cursor version. So its surprising how that would happen.
Would you mind sharing more details what you are doing? Composer in normal or agent mode or YOLO? Large files or something else unusual?
Sometimes restarting Mac helps, people report issues with SSD under certain circumstances on Mac and only a restart fixes it (unrelated to Cursor). etc.
For those using YOLO there are several versions or rm -rf posted here in the forum which may help reduce such cases for you.
Have you tried sharing the Request ID with the Cursor Support? Have they had a look whats going on?
Too many possibilities and such a rare case, so its hard to just guess.
The only extension I have is Remote - SSH. Yolo is disabled. The files I am working on are anywhere from 1000-3000 lines. In 0.44.11, cursor can edit fine. I use compose in agent mode. I’ll try your suggestion of removing caches, and a fresh install. I have not created a case yet as it seemed to be a one off, and I wanted to see if anyone else had seen this before I reported it. But now that I’ve had this for a while, and am getting desperate, looking around I have found other users on reddit and X who are experiencing the same issues. If deleting cache’s and reinstalling doesn’t fix, then i’ll open a support ticket.
Sure, check out
So far so good. I used AppCleaner on my Mac to remove all traces of Cursor. Installed the latest version, and no more issues with composer/agent. Seems to be fixed!
