You’re not alone. Might have something to do with open ai updating their llms today. But looks like Claude isn’t working either for you.
Damn. Well hopefully there’s a solution out soon.
Hey, we’re aware of this issue and are working on a solution. In the meantime, as a workaround, try editing the last message containing the model’s response and running it again. Does this resolve the issue?

Can anyone facing this confirm they still have this issue?
It’s something we are activly working to fix, but have been unable to reproduce internally.
If anyone is happy to do so, we’d love to hop on a quick call with someone who has a chat or composer that is stuck generating, but new chats or composer sessions work!

ok looks like it’s back, but my entire composer history is gone… does this mean that the context is also erased… that would actually suck. I think I’ve chatted with cursor for like 36 total hours…

If you hit the rewind button at the top left, next to the new session button, can you find your old history there? If so, and it is still not answering if you send a message, let me know!
Hopefully we can diagnose and fix it!

actually, i went back into that chat and asked, and it’s still stuck in generating… so a new chat works, but my old one wont.

Can confirm that this issue is still persistent and unresolved, I think it involves a problem where too many files are being loaded at the same time and overlapping in the memory, (I work on projects with thousands of lines of code and mainly only had this happen when I ping a folder, codebase or multiple files in the chat after multiple messages)
Please note that I’ve only seen this happen after multiple prompts and messages in a Composer Agent Chat
Current fix is to just CTRL + N and just use a new chat which works fine for now
same thing here. the composer chat is unresponsive , and unfortunately it has happened across two different project / chats. which has a good amount of context, but not something crazy. one project was a website , so we worked on that for a few days, and the other chat/project we didnt really worked on code, just iterating and investigating files and architecture. personally, I wouldn’t consider this to be a large context dialog “to remember”
