No matter what I do when trying to use the composter window it gets stuck in the Generating… loop and I have to cancel the chat. The only way I can utilize the AI assistant is through the chat which works immediately. I am updated to the latest version and have restarted it multiple times.

I met a similar issue before, but I tried a new cursor instance for new code repo ( not the repo which met cursor composer hang problem), I found the new cursor instance still can work.
At the end, the problem cursor instance crashed for unknown reason, but after it restart, it can work again, but I found the composer session history in control panel is clean, I am not sure if it is related.
I have tried to disable many features in cursor setting panel, but it cannot help.

I’ve got the same issue since this morning. Composer stays in an endless loop saying “generating” or just jumps straight to (task) “completed” without doing anything.
Something is stuffed
Try updating to version 0.42.3.
that’s the version i am on.
I have the feeling that it has to do if one uses previous conversations to follow up on (the lastest cusor version allows users to retain their history in composer).
generating code fails when using a previous chat.
a fresh one seems to work.
the problem is, I (and many others i’d assume) intend to use historical conversations to follow up on instead of using a blank fresh start.
team please check this error and fix it.

I am also on the latest version, I still am unable to use the composer after many restarts. I have composer next to chat in the AI side panel
I also am unable to “reset” the composer chat. When clicking the X icon it’s red and nothing happens
To reset the Composer, use the cmd + r shortcut.

I met the same problem and I found one workaround which worked for me.
You can open a new composer in “Control Panel”, and then the issue gone in the new composer.
cursor is totaly broken atm
