Chat just stopped working completely. anything I write just stays there as it searches… seems to hang… but no answers ever show up?

Haven’t changed any settings, my OpenAI and Anthropic accounts are active and paid.

Tried rebooting and logging out and back. Still the same issue.
Can anyone help?

Hello Fabien.

Same here! I am surprised that there no mention other than yours about this problem? What do we do know? I only noticed today.

@anon-9002714 team: Help!

Same here!

now working, about 1/2 hour of not working

Apologies about this! Certainly want to fix.

A few questions… Does this happen for new chats too? Does it persist on restart? Could you run “Report AI Action” from Command + Shift + P and then report back here?

Cursor has been stuck displaying the message ‘generating…’ message for the past couple days. Tried restarting Cursor but still get the same message. I was just about to pay for the subscription but will have to wait and see how this is resolved.

chat is working fine. Composer stop answering at all, keep showing generating…

Hello! Is this only for old composers or new ones as well?

Hello, has your issue been resolved? I encountered the same problem today. It was working fine in the morning, but after lunch, when I tried to continue, I couldn’t get a response from Chat. If I start a new chat or use the composer, will it consume Premium model credits.

This happened to me yesterday too – it was with composer, and I was trying to resume a chat from several days earlier, but couldn’t. So after about 20 minutes of retrying, I started a new composer chat and that worked. But lost the context from the old one

I have the same issue since friday afternoon and I stll can’t generate anything in chat and composer also…

I would appreciate it if you could provide insight into the reason behind this issue and how it can be resolved. Additionally, I would like to know if there are any steps I can take to avoid encountering this problem in the future. The inability to continue existing conversations without starting new ones complicates matters, as it requires me to reorganize and summarize previous dialogues and project details. This is particularly challenging for non-technical users like myself.

I have the same issue for normal chat, ctrl+L, but the ctrl + K works, and composer slightly works. The issues with composer is that it only works in agent mode. And within agent mode, it can’t change any files…

I also encountered the same problem, in fact, today is not the first time I have encountered this problem. At first, I thought it was accidental and restarted the project (giving up all the context, I need to rebuild AI’s understanding of the project), but a few days later when I continued editing, I encountered COMPOSER no response again. Perhaps this AI model has been frozen? I’m not sure, but at least you should give us an answer

I can confirm the same issue - chat just hangs and never replies. I do see an error that says “trying to add items to a dead context session” and “unsuccessfully trying to update frozen context session”. Any idea as to how I can get around this issue? My Cursor build information:

Same here. I really don’t want to lose the composer history for this chat/task…any way to export it, then reuse it in a new context?

Same issue for me – this is a chat though, not composer. A full reboot the machine did nothing, but creating a new chat did fix it. I noticed that an ‘Apply’ didn’t work and was just hanging for about 10 minutes. Chat continued to work but I couldn’t apply anything. Restarting Cursor did fix that problem, but then the chat just stalled a bit afterwards.

It would be nice to not lose those chat/composer histories in the process.

Mine stopped working after I upgraded to Pro :frowning:
Feels like I paid for a downgrade :frowning: :frowning:

The same issue for me.
I thought problem in free account, upgraded, but still doesn’t work.

It works now.
