Pro Subscriber : Cursor 0.47.8 not working ? Chat (agent) keeps generating

Is cursor down ? Chat keeps generating. Tried using claude 3.5, 3.7 sonnet , gpt-4o, deepseek-r1 & also started new chat as recommended but no luck.

Which version u r using ? When we allow it to time-out say after 20 minutes & try again it is working. Else no luck.

Okai. Specs looks same except I am using Ubuntu 22.04 OS. I didnt reboot but it is better now. Not sure though, for how long…

Tried following:

New chat? Sometimes solves issues when thread gets too large
Tried prompt on a new project? Sometimes a project has too large chat history, or Code indexing failed, or Docs indexing hgangs.
Also many other steps from the Troubleshooting guide? and Common issues in Cursor Documentation?

Im writing this as i see many other users having their issues resolved with simple steps

Right now cursor is working fine & I am trying to get as many things done when it is good. Dont know when it will start sleeping again. Sorry state of affairs but dat is wat it is !! Also, Thank You for suggestions…
While I was having issues, I tried below:

Tried new chat multiple times with different models including cursor-small but it didnt work out.
When I upgraded to 0.47.8, all my chat history too went away . So, too long chat history not applicable. But I will keep this in mind.
Will check the documentation too but in general I felt recent upgrades are unstable.
May be I should revert back to 0.46.X versions to give a bit stability.

Many people use following extension to backup chats (it only exports, but you can use the created .md files in new chat sessions or open in editor and copy parts you want.

Some users seem to have issues but they are often resolved easily. However you would need to be more detailed about the issue or what you tried or what errors you had incl. the chat ID which could help the cursor team debug the issue.

My experience with latest versions has become better and better.

Glad to know that…May be mine too will get better…but yesterday & today was not great especially Anthropic going down and today for some mysterious reasons

Chat keep ‘Generating’,
Chat getting filled after 8-10 conversations & stopped responding
New chat initiated not working at all
Also, from a business stand-point of view, cursor is a coding assistant & people with minimal technical know-how should be able to navigate rather than getting stressed out. Hopefully these guys who are pushing upgrades on a daily basis will take note & do something.

Issue that I am alluding here is that a chat is taking 15-20 minutes (or more) to respond & often it doesn’t even respond , so I stop generating & try other methods. Not sure what more details I could harness in situations like these.

Roughly after 10 minutes got below:

When I pressed ‘Try Again’, it started working again. I am seeing this pattern throughout the day. Is cursor intentionally slowing down the requests to mitigate the infra load ?

This sometimes happens to me if there is an image somewhere in the chat history.

Stop the current request
Scroll up until you find the image(s), remove
Re-send the last request

There were few PDFs and txt files attached in chat history apart from the code base (tsx & ts files), No images. I removed those PDFs and txt files and tried. But it is still clocking. I may need to initiate a new chat but typically when this occurs to me, new chat also clocks. So, thought it better to stick on to current chat to retain the context.

Same here… It is just stuck on “Generating…”. Doesn’t help with new Chat.

Mine started working fine 30 minutes back or so. Cursor forcefully closed. When I reopened requests started going through. Any idea what was the issue & any hacks I should try if it is to recurr again tomorrow ?
