Cursor can't connect to model provider

Restarted everything and tried different models, none of them works except Cursor’s own composer2.

Does this stop you from using Cursor?

  • Yes - Cursor is unusable
  • Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor
  • No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Thanks for reporting this.

As a first troubleshooting step, could you try:

- disabling any VPN, proxy, firewall, or DNS filtering temporarily

- switching to a different network, like a mobile hotspot

And letting us know if the issues persist?

Additionally, which models do you typically see as available in the model picker? Thanks!

Hi the issue still persists with all vpn off and different network. I think it has to do with cursor end as claude code works fine. I can see all the different models in the model picker. Previously I’ve already encountered this issue with the models being really slow when you leave the session alone for a while but now it is completely unusable.

The error only happens when a custom API key is enabled. If I disable the custom API key, Cursor works normally again. When I enable it to use an external model, the errors return. @kevinn
