Cursor Dashboard → Analytics

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor CLI

Describe the Bug

On the Analytics page, Cursor CLI usage is missing from the AI Share of Committed Code chart. The chart shows AI share of committed code but does not include (or does not aggregate) commits / edits that come from the CLI. The same data feeds the Usage Leaderboard, so AI vs. human code rankings are
undercounted for people and teams who work mainly through the CLI. The dashboard does not reflect the real AI share for a CLI-based workflow.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Use Cursor CLI to edit and commit code (agent / CLI, not IDE only).
  2. Create commits where a large part of the diff comes from AI in the CLI.
  3. Open https://cursor.com/dashboard/analytics.
  4. Check the AI Share of Committed Code chart for the relevant date range.
  5. Compare with Usage Leaderboard for the same users and the same time window.
  6. Compare with actual CLI activity (local commits / CLI usage).

Expected Behavior

The AI Share of Committed Code chart should include commits and changes from Cursor CLI, the same way it includes IDE usage. Usage Leaderboard should show the same consistent AI share, including CLI usage. Missing CLI data should not appear as 0% AI or as an empty series.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey @matgmg, thanks for the report.

You’re seeing this correctly. Right now the AI Share of Committed Code chart (and the leaderboard numbers that come from it) is driven by commit attribution that runs inside the Cursor editor. Commit attribution for the Cursor CLI is still limited and is listed as a known limitation in the analytics docs, so work done purely through the CLI is under-reported today.

This is noted in our docs:

  • AI Code Tracking has not been implemented for Background Agents, or the Cursor CLI yet.

This is a gap we’re tracking, and I’ve added your report to it.
