Cursor Failure: GLIBCXX_3.4.30 Error and the Dilemma of Upgrading libstdc++

I was using Cursor just fine, but today it suddenly won’t open containers and Python can’t jump to definitions either. The command line for starting Cursor shows this error: Error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.30’ not found. I checked the forum for solutions and it says I need to upgrade libstdc++. But I’ve been using it just fine, so why do I need to upgrade? I don’t want to upgrade.
does anyone have the solution?

anyone helps?

Hey try this solution:

the solution needs to upgrade the kernel. it is not safe. it may leads to nvidia driver failure and something like this.

*sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-toolchain-r/test *
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

cursor works fine in the last few days, and I am curious about why cursor suddently need to upgrade since last day.

I’ve figured out the reason.

The cursor automatically updated from cursor - 0.41.3 - build - 240925fkhcqg263 - x86_64.AppImage to cursor - 0.43.6.

What really disgusts me is that there was no notification about the update and the previous version was simply removed.

Moreover, the new version of cursor has caused a host of problems.
