Environment:
- OS: Linux x64
- Cursor version: 3.27.22
- Marketplace:
https://marketplace.cursorapi.com - Date: October 30, 2026
Issue:
Searching for any extension in Cursor returns Server returned 503.
Installing extensions through the CLI also fails:
cursor --install-extension openai.chatgpt
Diagnostics:
- Microsoft VS Code Marketplace extension query: HTTP 200
- Cursor Marketplace homepage: accessible
- Cursor Marketplace extensionquery POST: HTTP 503
- Response code:
unavailable - Response message:
Service Unavailable isRetryable: false- Cloudflare location: SIN
- Request ID:

The issue is reproducible using curl independently of the Cursor GUI.
Could you investigate the Marketplace backend or upstream service availability?
Steps to Reproduce
- Launch Cursor IDE version 3.27.22 on Linux x64.
- Open the Extensions panel using
Ctrl + Shift + X. - Search for any extension, such as
PythonorCodex. - Observe that the extension list fails to load and displays
Server returned 503. - Open a Linux terminal and execute:
cursor --install-extension openai.chatgpt - Observe that the CLI installation also fails with
Error while installing extensions: Server returned 503. - Independently send a POST request to
https://marketplace.cursorapi.com/_apis/public/gallery/extensionqueryusing curl with a valid extension search payload. - Confirm that the API returns HTTP 503 with
code: unavailableandService Unavailable.
For comparison, the equivalent Microsoft VS Code Marketplace API request returns HTTP 200 on the same machine and network.
The issue is consistently reproducible and does not appear to be specific to any individual extension.
Expected Behavior
The Cursor Extensions Marketplace should load and display matching extensions when searching for keywords such as “Python” or “Codex”.
Users should be able to browse, install, and update extensions through both the Cursor IDE and the command-line interface without encountering HTTP 503 errors.
The Marketplace extension query API should return HTTP 200 with valid extension search results instead of “Service Unavailable”.
