All the free models to use are now consuming requests that include GPT-5-mini, gemimi-flash-2.5, and the auto model (I haven’t tested the other free models, but these 3 are 100% consuming requests)
Oh, I hope not, they were quite useful for small modifications. They are always counted, but you notice them being free only after you have reached your limit normally. Basically, when you have no more included credits, you usually can still use those models.
That’s incorrect.
Free models were always excluded from Premium Requests. I can tell for sure as I’ve used them for months, and my usage number never used to increase when using free models. Free models were reported with 0 consuming premium requests.
Unfortunately GPT-5 mini and Gemini 2.5 flash are not longer free. The only free models I could find right now on Cursor are:
- GPT-5 nano
- Grok-code-fast-1
Ohh… that’s a shame ![]()
My experience with grok-code-fast-1:
- It is still free model (using it didn’t increase the usage $ in Cursor - The AI Code Editor at the top)
- But in the usage history (the table below it), it still shows some $ cost
- So, even though the table shows it costs some $, the usage $ is not increased
Hi, what’s the current list now?
Hi, what’s the current list now?
i think only Grok Code Fast 1 that have cheap models. if you need other for cheapest try to
- GPT-5.1 Codex Mini
- Gemini Flash 3
Feb 2026 now - No free models anymore. Grok Code fast 1 was the last free model who ended their free thing later last month.
Now we’ve got to stick to the traditional way of using the cheapest for longer lifespan of our paid plans.
Go here and sort the Output column ascending to see the cheapest models on Cursor: Models | Cursor Docs
thanks. I’m curious Why Kimi K2 etc arent listed there
My best guess is that its a website made for marketing to US clients - so they don’t show Chinese-origin models.
