Cursor still uses conflicting Cmd+N shortcuts that entirely delete files

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I’ve seen several reports of this (like here Cursor deleting newly created file when cmd-n is pressed) - how is this still a default?

Commandeering a long-standing, commmon shortcut that creates a new file to instead have it destroy a file (but only sometimes, depending on your relative context in the UI) is a terrible user experience. Conveniently for the business, the only way to fix this is to use more tokens to have the agent rebuild it from scratch.

Please change this default.

Steps to Reproduce

Try to create a new file when you happen to be on a file that is marked from review.

Expected Behavior

A common shortcut that is used across applications and platforms to create a new file should always create a new file. It should never be used to delete a file.

Operating System

MacOS

Version: 2.4.27

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

(Also on macOS) Yesterday I started getting the behavior that Ctrl-N pastes from the clipboard. I have Ctrl-N mapped to “Cursor Tab” (and honestly have no idea how people can work without access to the Tab key) but about half the time when I try to accept the suggestion it instead pastes the contents of the clipboard into the document. And undo won’t delete it, which is great.
