Cursor struggling to apply edits, CUDA cores relevant?

Hello there,

Overall, I really enjoy using Cursor.

My current PC is not the most powerful one with the following specs:

Intel Core i7 7700 (on ultimate performance mode running 4.0GHz)
32GB DDR4 RAM
Nvidia GeForce GT1030 2GB VRAM, 384 CUDA cores
1TB nVME SSD
400W PSU Titanium rated

Windows 11 Pro 64 Bit

Cursor version latest as of 12th July 2025.

The issue right now:
Especially when editing larger files (doesn’t matter what programming / config / scripting language), Cursor repeatedly fails to apply edits. It even tells me that “I have repeatedly failed to edit <file.go>, here is the full version of the file, please copy paste it”.

Sometimes it creates a huge mess and I have to restore the file back to some previous state through the very helpful restore button.

I mostly use Google Gemini Pro 2.5 0325 right now.

I have noticed that during some tasks (can’t pin down what exactly), the GPU usage goes up to 100%, my little GT1030 VRAM is already maxed out at 2GB VRAM.

Does Cursor use the local GPU for certain tasks like applying edits etc?
Could I improve the edit performance and overall speed by installing a more powerful GPU?
Do CUDA cores matter?

I am aware that most of the AI work is done in the cloud, I do not intend to exclusively use my local hardware for the edits. All I want to know is if upgrading my PC, especially the GPU, would improve Cursors performance.
