Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Additional Notes:

  • Tried changing the model, starting a new chat, closing cursor and reopening it, and working on another project but the same problem everywhere.

Hey, have you tried creating a new chat?

Same problem here; creating a new chat is not an option, as I need to keep the context. I’ve tried multiple agents/models and ‘auto’ -and it just hangs on ‘generating…’ - with no other feedback whatsoever. I’ve been waiting on one request for well over an hour now (over multiple attempts with different models—min 10 minutes waiting on each before trying another—each time, zero feedback). There really should be some other information than just ‘generating’ so we can tell if our request is actually being dealt with or if it’s just hanging.

yes, as described, I tried all of that, and nothing worked. i can send you a video recording if that’s going to help.

i agree with you, because like that we are just wasting time.

Which model are you using? Also, could you check the DevTools panel for any errors?

I tried multiple models, even the auto mode, and the same problem persisted. Where is the DevTools panel located so I can check if there are any errors?

Yeah, since yesterday its been stuck at “generating…”

You can open the DevTools panel from the Command Palette.

I tried clicking on the devtools but nothing came up in the command palette. I’ve noticed that this appears whenever it gets stuck.

The issue might be related to one or more extensions. Try starting in safe mode using: cursor --disable-extensions, and check if the chat works in this case.

solved; I am now debugging to see which extension is producing this bug.
I’ll let you know if I find something useful.
Thank you for your support.

Any solution?

same issue here. I even thought initially that it was due to reaching account limits, so I purchased another account yesterday, and that didn’t fix it! Waste of $20, especially considering it’s not even working!

I also encountered this problem and the only thing that helps in my case is to close and reopen the editor. Then you can continue the chat in the same window.

same here. Sometimes it helps clicking stop and asking Cursor to start again… very frustrating

it’s frustrating, if you are in a hurry like me, just run it without extensions like the support guy mentioned, it will work
still didn’t find the extension that’s causing the issue

That will cause you a headache
