Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?
Cursor IDE
Describe the Bug
Last Thursday night, Cursor suddenly went from a good product, to a bad product. I only use Editor UI (not Agent UI – when i say “agent” below I mean Editor mode with the Agent dropdown chosen).
- in agent mode, instead of a couple minutes to do multi-file work, it now takes 10 minutes or more
- in agent mode, instead of doing changes all at once, i get asked for permissions for things i never had to allow before such as tail, cat, cd, things like this
- the plan mode (which i recently have embraced) stopped making good plans. instead the plans do idiotic things and skip essential steps.
- agent mode produces huge outputs where i see it using things like python to edit text files, very verbosely. why is it now showing me the steps in editing?
- sometimes, 10 minutes into an edit, it will ask for permissions that i’ve already granted. so i can’t even go away and come back – i’ll find it paused on a permission it never asked for before.
I tried fiddling with the models but to no avail. It feels like a systemic change. Like something from the Agents world has come into the world of us OG Editor users and corrupted it.
Cursor team what is going on – did you change something last week? I used to think my project corrupted but now that I see big difference in how Agent behaves, it seems something changed in the product. How can I get my old cursor back? (and by “old” i mean “what I was using last week”).
I’ve basically churned off the product at this point, but would very much like to come back because nothing I’ve tried compares to the Cursor I had up until last week.
Steps to Reproduce
Use Cursor in Agent mode
Expected Behavior
I expect it to be fast and responsive, like it used to be. Not slow and broken!
