Cursor suddenly useless in last day

Describe the Bug

I just had an entire bug report deleted because it had the word “■■■■” in it, so I’m sorry if this is a bit terse. Started pro trial about a week ago and loved it. Easily worth the money. Most useful thing I’ve used in a long time. In last 24 hours, suddenly is useless.

  1. Tries to start background agent repeatedly despite me selecting “Agent”. Fails. Makes me revert. Try again. Rinse repeat until it stops doing this.
  2. Finally tries to use local agent. If I have one running, stops using it. Select it manually. Does nothing. Tries to start new one. Hangs. Sits there forever. Restart program a few times until it works.
  3. Starts finally outputting text. Says things like “We need to update admin.py with the following:” then has blank spots. Doesn’t actually give code.

It’s gone from incredibly useful to useless very suddenly.

To boot, I can no longer remove the docs context. When I hover, it doesn’t show the X and clicking them does nothing. I don’t understand why all of this started happening out of nowhere.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the report. We’ll look into it. However, you can also go back to the stable version by downloading it from here:

Thank you deanrie. How did I end up on a non stable version? How can I make sure this doesn’t happen in the future?

1.3.2 is bug verion lol, try to down to 1.2.x

Again, how did I end up on a non-stable release? How can I prevent that from happening in the future?

This update was released by mistake, and you shouldn’t have received it. We’re sorry for any inconvenience. The release has been canceled, and users without early access will no longer get this version.

Okay thanks. Bad timing on me signing up I guess. Made me think this was something that was normal!

I explicitly installed 1.2 and am now having the same troubles I was having before with the agent mysteriously trying to force a background agent. I just checked, and I am somehow back on 1.3.3. I have clicked no every time it asked me to upgrade. How can I stop this from happening?

Hey, do you happen to have early access enabled in your Cursor settings?

Hi.

No, this is my setting:

Is it possible the 1.3 release wasn’t removed when I installed 1.2 again?

Looks like I’m on 1.3.9 right now. Is that stable? I see 1.3 when I go to the downloads page now, so I’m wondering if I should just stay on this.
