Cursor update 3.1.17 limits all model choices to THINKING

Before updating, on 3.1.15, in the agent model selector menu I could choose between Opus 4.7 High and Opus 4.7 High Thinking. On 3.1.17, I can’t. My only choice is THINKING.

in Cursor settings > Models I no longer see the option to toggle various levels of models.

Everyone is a THINKER now. And the most expensive. I’m rolling back..

Rolled back to 3.0.16, and now I can more finely choose which models and model levels I want:

Does this stop you from using Cursor?

  • Yes - Cursor is unusable
  • Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Now I see it … I rolled forward again to latest, and I see there’s an Edit option next to the model name…

That’s correct! You can hover over the model selector to edit reasoning and context size. Thanks for following up and marking the topic as solved.
