Cursor Updates, Issues and Suggestions

With the latest update, Cursor has encountered some serious issues. However, despite these problems, I still believe it is the best in this field.

I tried looking for alternatives, and Competitor company was being shared a lot recently. I decided to try the Pro version, but the connection drop issue that happened with Claude 3.7 also existed there. Additionally, when comparing its Pro version to Cursor Pro, Cursor still seemed like the more logical choice to me.

Issues After the Update

The Cursor team had certain users test the update before releasing it to everyone, yet when it was made publicly available, major issues emerged. This suggests that the testing process may not have been thorough enough.

Also, since Claude 3.7 was introduced simultaneously by both Cursor and Anthropic, it attracted massive attention. Naturally, this brought some infrastructure issues as well. I believe both teams will resolve these problems, but they need to act quickly, as these issues are becoming increasingly frustrating over time.

If all the issues are resolved, Cursor could offer Pro users an extra 500 credits as a goodwill gesture. (Of course, I didn’t write all of this just for 500 extra credits, haha.)

My Suggestions

  • Local Memory Feature: I’ve suggested this before. A locally stored memory feature is necessary to prevent context loss. This would help maintain better continuity in conversations.
  • MCP Selection Panel: Right now, I have to manually call MCPs or mention them in my prompts. Instead, there could be a selection panel in the prompt input area where I can choose which MCP to use, making the process much more efficient.
  • Jupyter Notebook Support: Currently, there are significant gaps in coding support for Jupyter Notebook. Adding this feature would be a great improvement.
  • Context Retention Mechanism: I constantly have to remind the system about past messages. If a reinforcement-based mechanism is integrated with the local memory feature, the issue of context loss could be significantly reduced.

That’s all for now! Hopefully, the team considers these suggestions. Keep up the great work, we appreciate you! :rocket:

I beg to differ when it comes to the tool with the best context awareness and code quality for working on production ready code, its aug… sorry i cant complete the remaining letters because some cursor mods are not mature enough to permit mentioning other products without excessive censorship. Go google. I am using that tool for big projects with over 4000 files . Goo google and you would figure out the rest… i have relegated cursor to my hobby and small projects

Also when it comes to local memory support that tool aug… supports it. I have abbreviated it. Go do the googling

I know the application I am talking about. thank you for your suggestion.
