Describe the Bug

Cusor Agent CLI - still counting gpt-5 requets as 2 requests

Steps to Reproduce

Use Cursor Agent CLi - make a prompt request, see the usage log, see your total requests go up by 2.

Expected Behavior

Operating System

Linux

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

2025.08.25-896bbe1
Linux 18dd83a2e3f6 6.8.12-9

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, I just checked and it counts as 1 request. Could you try updating the Cursor agent with cursor-agent update?

When I was using it, it used 20 requests so you know, ghost API-cost base is already enacted the DAY they announced september 2025 pricing.

@deanrie I don’t have that Cost (requests) on my usage UI - is that released?

I see tokens (briefly, now its back to just -) and I don’t see Cost (Requests).

I see there is an update this morning (I checked yesterday and didn’t get an update).

Version is now: 2025.08.27-24c29c1

(ignore the gpt-5-high as that was normal Cursor usage)

Somehow after 1 request, my usage jumped from 21 → 35 total used. So something is very strange is happening. All usage in the period is below, no idea how that can math to 35.

@b3nw as you are not on the old plan but on the regular Pro plan, there is no counting as 2 requests. Cursor tracks token based usage as reported by AI providers. The details are shown in Dashboard > Usage > All Raw Events. As you have shown in your screenshot. Please let me know if there is an issue with it with more details.

@Alphonse_Jourdain could you be specific and provide info? In case there was an issue with your account we would need to check it.

@condor

I get requests here based on my yearly signup, but my usage doesn’t show request count.

Ah in this case you are on request based plan. Thank you for clarifying that.

The request count is not realtime so it can be that some are shown delayed or added up from a period before.

Do I understand right that gpt-5 (not -fast) were deducting 2 requests?

Correct, the gpt-5 requests from the Cursor CLI are still consuming 2 requests.

I also don’t see the request count in my usage history (which @deanrie seemed to have!) , so its a bit hard to validate this, beyond counting the number of requests in the date range.

@deanrie is using either a team account or usage based pricing for those requests.

Once you switch to usage based pricing you would also see per request the details.

Could you post a Request ID for a GPT-5 request that counted as 2 requests? Cursor – Getting a Request ID

ah interesting, so the team accounts can see the request consumption, that explains it. I’ll see if I can produce a request ID.

@condor Request id 7bdf3190-8ccb-4c96-b48d-23122f4715c2 took me from 36 - > 43 on a single prompt to the cursor cli:
