A lot of my project files were suddenly deleted today. Has anyone encountered this before?
Yeah just don’t use the “Restore Checkpoint” in this current version, And if you lost your files ask the chat to make them again and it will do it for you.
When working on code using the SplitView feature, files will be automatically deleted. Everyone, be careful.
Hey, yes, sorry about that. We’re releasing an update soon that should fix this issue. In the meantime, you can switch to the previous version. You can download it here:
Got it.thanks
For a couple days now I’ve been having an issue when chatting and asking the AI to do some code generation, Cursor will seemingly randomly delete a couple files from my directory. If pointed out the chat will then notice they are deleted and try to recreate them, often with poor results. I have to go into my source monitoring and then delete the changes (ie reverting the file deletion).
How can we stop this? Or what circumstances does it delete files? I would suggest that cursor not be allowed to delete anything without explicit user interaction.
When I click "continue with revert“ ,I lost my files
..Thanks to the “TIMELINE” I found it back…
Yeah, Happens to me all the time! This thing will absolutely lie to you, hide things from you, deny it, and your right, It NEVER puts it back the way it was, NEVER! IT will put the file back with so many errors it will make your head spin!
Hey everyone - apologies about this. If you are not on version 1.3.2, and on 1.3.0/1.3.1, you should be updated. If you are still having trouble, email me [email protected] and I will help get it sorted
Faced the same issue. This should not have happened. I understand it was not intended, but this bug cost me a huge effort.
Hi, just wanna update that we have released 1.3.5 to the Default channel.
The problem is still present with 1.3.5, cursor deletes the file content
Hi @pciprianiasernet by Cursor, do you mean AI Agent? or Cursor app? and how?
I’m using the Cursor App. It deletes file contents without reason.
@pciprianiasernet could you please clarify what deletes the file and under which circumstances?
In order to analyze and fix the issue we need more information:
- How does Cursor app delete the files?
- Which functionality within Cursor app? (Chat, Agent, …?)
- What steps did you take right before Cursor deleted the files.
Ran into this just now:
- ask it to edit a notebook
- summarizing chat content…
- claude sonnet: “there is json in the notebook, let me delete it and start over”
- delete notebook, followed by “invalid tool call”
- go back to previous turn, click continue and revert. File still gone. “i don’t see the notebook”
And that was actual code written by myself ;_;
