Describe the request
How can Cursor expect one to make an informed decision about the effectiveness of the program if it only gives you about 5 chats…
Hey, thanks for the feedback. The Free Hobby plan is meant more as a first look. You get the Auto model plus a limited monthly request cap that resets every month. For a serious evaluation, I agree that’s not enough on its own.
To properly test Cursor before deciding, the best option is to start the Pro trial. It unlocks full access to models and gives you a much larger limit, so you can try it on real tasks. You can start it from Cursor Settings > the plan tab / dashboard on cursor.com.
I’ll pass your feedback about the Free plan limits to the team. We’re reviewing the limit levels right now. If you still have questions after the Pro trial about what’s included in each plan, post here and I’ll help you sort it out.
I see no option on your site for a free trial…

Hey, let me clarify the navigation. The Pro trial doesn’t start on the main site page, it starts in your account dashboard:
You can also do the same right in the app: Cursor Settings → the plan/account tab.
If there’s no option to start a Pro trial in the dashboard, and you only see a paid upgrade, the trial may be unavailable on your account for some reason or you already used it. In that case, email [email protected] and the team can check your account and help you get access to the trial.
If you have questions after the trial about what’s included in each plan, message me here and we’ll sort it out.
@deanrie I also have no trial option, looks like 20$ is goiing to be charged immediately after entering my card credentials (at least accorfing hint text on billing page). I wrote a message to [email protected] and got reply (from Sam, Cursor’s AI Support Assistant) that
Cursor doesn’t offer a free trial for Pro. There’s no 2-week or any other trial period available on paid plans.
The free option is the Hobby plan, which you’re likely already on. It gives you a limited amount of usage to try out Cursor’s AI features at no cost. If you want to compare what’s included on each plan, you can visit Cursor · Pricing .
This is fundamentally different from what you write here.
So where is the correct information?
Hey, thanks for being persistent, and sorry for the confusion on my side earlier.
The correct info is what Sam shared. The 7-day Pro trial has been officially removed. So not seeing a trial option at checkout and being charged $20 right away is expected, not an issue with your account. My earlier messages in this thread about starting a trial from the dashboard were outdated, sorry for the wrong info.
The guaranteed free way to try Cursor is the Free Hobby plan. You get the Auto model and a monthly request limit that resets every month. No card and no charges.
It only makes sense to email [email protected] for billing issues, like if something was charged incorrectly. For trial availability, there’s nothing to check anymore since it’s been removed system-wide.
So you saying to just trust you guys and pay? If you have 30 days money back guranteed then i will try but not if i can only send couple messages and they can only be something like create a folder.
