Developer documentation for MCP

As a developer designing an MCP server with the explicit intent to provide functionality to cursor developers, it would be extremely useful if the official documentation provided up to date information on Cursor’s support for MCP servers.

Specifically:

  • Are there any immediate plans to update Cursor’s MCP client to make use of the 2025-03-26 MCP specification, which adds some important functionality to the spec?
  • Does Cursor honor the optional “instructions” that may be added to the initialization response message during session initialization?
  • Should developers be expecting support for resources to come online anytime soon?

etc.

In general, I think this would help to bolster the community of MCP developers, to make useful products that meaningfully add to Cursor’s already considerable value.
