Device Mode Toolbar toggle is no longer visible

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

After updating Cursor Editor to version 2.4.21, I noticed an issue with the embedded browser DevTools.

The Device Toolbar toggle (mobile/tablet responsive view) is no longer visible in the embedded Chrome DevTools. The icon to switch between desktop and device emulation modes does not appear in the DevTools

Steps to Reproduce

The DevTools open correctly, but the Device Toolbar toggle is missing.

Expected Behavior

The embedded DevTools should expose the same Device Toolbar toggle available in standard Chrome DevTools.

Operating System

Linux

Version Information

  • Cursor Editor: 2.4.21

Additional Information

  • This worked as expected in previous versions (or at least the toggle was visible).
  • Keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + M do not seem to enable the Device Toolbar either.
  • The issue appears specific to the embedded browser DevTools; external Chrome works normally.

Please let me know if this is an intentional change, a known limitation, or a regression bug. Mobile/responsive testing inside the embedded browser would be very helpful.

Thanks for your work on Cursor!

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report.

We can see this is a regression. Just 2 days ago another user posted the same thing and shared screenshots showing the device toolbar icon is gone. Looks like this happened after a recent update.

For now, you can:

  • Open the site in regular Chrome and test responsive there
  • Or ask the agent to edit CSS media queries directly

I’ll let you know if we get any info on a fix.
