Did the Cursor team roll back to version 0.40.4 ?!

Today, after a long wait I finally got the new version (0.41.1) after running the command “Attempt Update”. Maybe an hour later a got a popup in Cursor at the right bottom corner saying there a new version. I clicked it and Cursor downgraded back to 0.40.4. Now running “Attempt Update” does nothing!

I have been facing bugs on version 0.40.4 so I’m a bit frustrated and would like to get the new version back. Any idea how to get the new version?

I’m on an Intel Mac.

It’s possible that this was done intentionally, as the release might contain bugs, and the team possibly rolled back to the old version. I think this will be resolved soon, so please wait for the updates.

Thanks @deanrie. It would be great if the user would have the option to choose whether to already start using the new version. Even if it has some new bugs it might fix some fatal bugs in the old version (which was released already almost one month ago).

Happened for me too. Was happy with the Composer in the left pane and now it’s back floating…

I was able to update a second time to 0.41.1. Later today I got a popup again informing about a new version. I did not dare to click it because I suspect it would have downgraded again to previous version — since the latest version is at the moment 0.41.1 and I was already having that.

There might be a bug in Cursor update mechanism.

The story continues. I can’t believe what just happened. I started Cursor app and yet again it had downgraded to 0.40.4. So just by closing the app earlier today and starting it again changed the version back. So Cursor seems to be switching between old and new version.

@deanrie Do you know if Cursor team is aware of this issue?

do you see the upgrade to 0.41 now? we have opened it up to everyone (and you shouldn’t see this moving forward!). please flag it here if you see any downgrades and i’ll look into it!

I was able to run the “Attempt Update” command and Cursor updated to the new version. I’ll ping here if downgrade should happen again. Thanks!
