Please add an option to switch to “diff” / “udiff” / “diff-fenced” mode, like in Aider.
Instant-Apply is great (I myself trained Fast-Apply to mimic it). But there are already a lot of complaints about the cursor signature apply model, so I won’t repeat them again.
Gemini Pro 2.5 is just good enough to use this diff tool. Gemini is so quick with ~200 tok/s, and it makes a lot of small code blocks , like 6-10 update snippets per prompt. So then, for me, with a large file of code ~4k lines (this is my code base, don’t ask me to split it), it takes ~10s to ~20s to make the apply, and so 1-2 minutes to just apply the code.
At some point, honestly, I just enjoy going with Aider because the model is free and using a diff tool is just more efficient in time and accuracy.
It’s just a matter of changing the prompt, accepting that Instant Apply becomes irrelevant in the future as the models just keep getting better. And allowing devs to have more freedom to use what works best.
