Disable GPT-5 in cursor

I have been trying GPT-5 since it came out, but the experience leaves a lot to be desired. It is slow, does many more changes than asked, and gets many things wrong.

How can I keep using auto (staying within my plan) and avoid GPT-5 ?

Hey, we’re sorry that you didn’t like this model. We’ll try to improve its performance in Cursor. Also, all you need to do to switch to auto mode is enable it in the model selector.

Well, in models do disable it as well.

Hi, Even if we switch to Auto it appears that GPT-5 is still being used for Auto requests sometimes. I can tell because it behaves very differently (lots of thinking and takes mins instead of seconds for even simple requests). This changes the use of Auto significantly.

Update: GPT-5 is a lot slower, but it does produce better results.
