This issue just deleted 80% of my application, even files cursor have not touched.
all changes I had not committed are gone. The changes in git I can restore, yet without the applied changes I have made

I lost multiple files today because of this bug. The LLM hallucinated pretty badly when I asked it to give me the code that had previously been provided to it, so I lost everything after my previous commits on those files.
Between the lack of response on this and the thread about adding a .cursorban to prevent sending secrets to the LLM, I’m considering canceling my subscription and exploring other products. I’ve read good things about Codeium’s Windsurf Editor and it doesn’t randomly delete files for no reason as far I know.
Cursor team: you quickly created an amazing product that outshined entrenched players in the IDE space. Now you’re dropping the ball with lack of communication and major bugs that cause lost work / leaked secrets. This is how you build a bad brand reputation and lose customers for life. I hope you can figure it out, because there’s a lot to like about your product.
This happens regularly. Today so many files were deleted that I wasted a lot of time organizing things, and I’m not sure if I recovered everything
Are you guys using git? I find version control really helpful. Cursor’s edits are a non-issue for me because I slow down and make small commits as often as I can.
Does anyone not use git? If not, that is some serious yolo-ing haha
I’m not losing vast amounts of work but would love to see this fixed! Having to restore a file breaks flow/concentration, especially when you’re on a roll
Currently walking on eggshells because I cannot hit the reject all button, knowing that it may delete the whole file
Is this on the cursor team’s radar still? If not, bumping the thread in the hopes that it will be!
I’ve been working on a new project for 6 hours. I didn’t have time to commit anything to the git because I just forgot and walked away from my laptop for a few minutes. When I came back, I noticed that cursor had deleted all the important files I had made. Now my project doesn’t work and I wasted 6 hours. It’s a shame that I pay such a lot of money for such a terrible subscription.
Also not the first time I’ve encountered cursor breaking my git. It took me several hours to figure out what the problem was and restore my git.
Who knows any good analogs to cursor?
I just got really lucky. After deleting my files my laptop started to slow down a lot (nothing in task manager), I had to reboot the laptop, it wouldn’t reboot so I forced it off. However, after turning it back on, somehow magically all my files came back on
My guess is that Cursor somehow accidentally breaks file paths.
I have Windows 10. Is it the same problem on macOS?
There is a setting that prevents deleting files.
