Display MCP from GitHub in the extensions section, as it is done in VSCode

Feature request for product/service

Cursor CLI

Describe the request

Can you also add from MCP to the extensions from GitHub? It would be convenient, I think they will definitely be updated on GitHub MCP Registry · GitHub

Hey, thanks for the feedback! I get that you want a simpler way to install MCP servers.

Cursor has an official MCP Directory with featured servers. If the server you need isn’t there, you can request it to be added.

Your request for a UI marketplace for MCP has already been discussed here: Integration with MCP Smithery. The team knows users want one-click install like VSCode extensions. This is a feature request and it’s considered during planning.

For now, MCP servers are installed via a config file. Instructions are in the docs.

Thank you, I know how to install MCP. But the discussion involved a third-party site, and considering GitHub’s dominant position in hosting open source code and its deep integration with Copilot, their MCP server directory has every chance of becoming a de facto monopoly standard.

One more question, how soon will sub-agents and orchestration be implemented? In Claude Code and OpenCode, this is already available.

Regarding sub-agents and orchestration, this is a feature the team is actively working on. Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific release timeline yet.

As a temporary workaround, you can use a community solution: This might help some folks with complex workflows: How to Use Cursor-Agent (and/or Claude-Code-SDK) from Inside Cursor IDE
