Does not work with your current plan or API key

Describe the Bug

Am I currently using the custom API key feature for Pro users? This morning it was working fine, but after the update in the afternoon, a pop-up window appeared saying, “The model GLM-4.6 does not work with your current plan or API key.” I tried logging in again, and on my app, it shows that I have become a FREE user.

Steps to Reproduce

just use the apikey function

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. The issue is that custom API keys are only available for Pro users. If your status got switched to FREE, the feature becomes unavailable.

Try this:

If it also shows FREE instead of Pro, email [email protected] and they’ll help restore your subscription.

Most likely it’s a subscription status sync issue after an update.

thanks !now my account status is corrent, but the custom API keys function still unavailable,To be exact, it works sometimes and doesn’t work other times.

Thanks for the info. GLM-4.6 by Zhipu AI isn’t officially supported in Cursor.

What this means in practice:

  • Cursor is optimized and tested to work with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google models
  • Connecting other providers via a custom API key with a custom Base URL is technically possible, but it works “as is”
  • We can’t guarantee stability or compatibility of request and response formats
  • Unstable behavior (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t) is expected for unsupported providers

If you need reliable AI in Cursor, I recommend using officially supported models:

  • OpenAI (GPT-5.2, GPT-5.1-Codex, etc.)
  • Anthropic (Claude 4.5 Sonnet, Claude 4.5 Opus)
  • Google (Gemini 3 Pro or Flash)

In the latest version, Version: 2.4.0-pre.48.patch.0, my custom API key model shows an error message: “AI Model Not Found. The model name is invalid: ‘GLM-4.6’”. However, when I reverted to the stable version, everything worked fine.:folded_hands:
