Empty new chats clog the history

:arrows_counterclockwise: Explain how to reproduce the bug (if known)

For example open and close the chat, then restore a previous chat, close and open it again. Repeat. Lots of new, empty chats generated when browsing through past chats and changing one’s mind about interacting with the chat.
